Paul Raymond is a famous dude. How many other human beings can you think of who have their own Wikipedia entry, a writeup on ThePornDude, and their own webpage sharing the same name? Jules Jordan and Rocco Siffredi come to mind, though Raymond’s arguably in a different class than those two. Jordan and Siffredi are widely known both for starring in and creating pornography, though our guy Raymond worked strictly on the publishing side. He’s also long dead, so you wouldn’t want to see him slinging his dead old dick in a modern 4K pornographic film.
Raymond was around way before today’s perverted publishers, launching his first men’s magazine way back in 1964. It was the beginning of an adult empire that survives to this day. PaulRaymond.xxx extends Raymond’s legacy well into the new millennium, offering up digital adult magazines, photos, and videos from the legendary brand. The site gets close to a hundred thousand visitors a month, which ain’t all that much compared to joints like Brazzers and Reality Kings, but how many does your local newspaper get? Let’s take a closer look and see why these old-timey skin rags are still hanging on in a world of increasingly hardcore videos.
Porno Mags from the Legendary Paul Raymond
If you want Paul Raymond’s whole-ass life story, just read the Wiki article yourself, but I’ll sum up the important parts. Raymond opened the UK’s first strip club by figuring out how to skirt the relevant laws and later got into publishing. There’s a big, boring section about his work as a property developer, and then everything went to shit when his daughter died of a heroin overdose back in 1992. He lived out his final years as a recluse in a penthouse and died in 2008, leaving a half billion-dollar fortune to his family, who have since become committed to charity work.
That’s great and all, but it doesn’t really help you jack off, does it? Nah, for that we go to PaulRaymond.xxx, which has a lot more pictures than the Wiki entry, and a lot fewer boring details. Truth be told, the website doesn’t talk about ol’ Paul too much, but they do cover the front page with magazine covers that feature his name prominently across the top of each. Visitors may not notice the text immediately, because they’ll probably be too distracted by all the pretty girls in various states of undress.
If you visit a modern karaoke bar, you might hear some drunk 21-year-old screaming along to the Beastie Boys, shouting about their inalienable entitlement to celebration and how mom threw away their best porno mag. The thing is, the younger generations have hardly touched those glossy pages ever since the advent of the internet. PaulRaymond.xxx features a lot of famous skin rag brands, but how well you recognize them may depend on how old you are. Are you ancient enough to have hid Razzle, Mayfair, International Club or Men Only beneath your mattress?
Even if you don’t recognize the names, it’s an impressive spread with dozens of magazines included. Maybe I’m too young to have hidden a stack of Escort, Teen Angels and Men’s World in a metal box in the middle of the woods, but thanks to the internet, maybe it ain’t too late to get into it. According to the promo image at the top of the front page, Inclusive Members get access to the classic stuff, so I made my way to the signup page for a closer look at the perks.
What’s Free and What Costs Money
One of PaulRaymond’s biggest perks popped out as soon as I hit the signup page. Turns out, there’s a limited free membership available. You don’t even need to enter your credit card deets to cash in, which is a rarity on sites like this. The freebie membership entitles you to one free magazine, one free photoset and one free video. It ain’t much, but at least it’s something.
This would probably be a good place to point out that even if you don’t sign up for an account, PaulRaymond.xxx offers a fair amount of free T&A. Prior to checking out the prices, I’d already seen a gallery of Riley Reid photos and a ton of samples from the magazines. Digital versions of the rags will run you about four or five bucks each, assuming you haven’t sprung for a membership with the discounts included.
There’s also a Photos and Videos tier for the PaulRaymond membership. For seven bucks a month, you get access to around 140k photos and 1200 videos, plus one free magazine and 40% off content purchases. I think this membership tier largely exists to make the Inclusive membership more appealing. For just a couple bucks more, Inclusive includes everything in the other tiers, plus all the new magazines that come out, a Special Members section, and 60% off content purchases.
However you slice it up and break it down, membership is cheaper than your average paysite. You can obviously run the total price way the fuck up if you want to buy a ton of older magazines on top of everything else, but I think the Inclusive plan offers more than enough fap fodder for the average masturbator. I could see some of the old-timers digging into the vintage stuff, especially if there’s content from some model you’ve been crushing on for years.
A Classic Porn Format in the 21st Century
I decided to cash in on that free PaulRaymond account first. Signup is quick and easy, but weirdly, they demand a phone number before they let you proceed. I already hate giving an email address and inviting the spam that inevitably comes with it, and this seems like a good way to get more SMS spam. Since I wasn’t sure yet if I’d ever come back for another wank, I wasn’t about to give them that info. I registered instead using temporary email and temporary phone number services.
Once I got inside, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that members get to pick their freebies. I assumed we’d all get the same basket of content, but once you get signed up, they tell you to visit the Magazines, Videos and Photos sections to add stuff to your cart. That alone is going to make PaulRaymond worth a signup for a lot of you cheapskate wankers.
PaulRaymond.xxx has a lot of famous pornstars and hot amateurs. I saw Riley out front, and then I went browsing The Girls page to find babes like Alexis Texas, Mia Malkova, and Brooklyn Chase. I even spotted some girls who have visited me on the PornDudeCasting couch, like Jasmine Jae, Anissa Kate, and Misha Cross. I ain’t ashamed to admit I spent one of my freebies on an Estella Bathory video, as she’s easily one of my favorite fat chicks in the industry.
While I was trying to pick out my free PaulRaymond content, I noticed that the search functions ain’t that great. Whether you’re browsing the Magazines, Photosets, Videos or Girls sections of the site, you’ve only got a couple dropdown menus to play with, one for Magazines and another for Girls. There’s also a “Search Anything” bar that only seemed to work in the Videos section, if at all. Searches for Anal, Dildo and BBW turned up fruit; searches for Feet, Blowjob and BDSM turned up jack shit.
I ended up “buying” an older issue of Razzle with one of my free credits. It’s got this cute chick named Sophia on the cover, and promises “MORE NAKED GIRLS THAN ANY OTHER MAGAZINE”. I’m not sure how true that is, but the built-in magazine reader offers a decent way of flipping through the rag. It may be digital, but the photos and the layout both brought me back to the old days of slippery pages and hidden porn stashes. Just for old time’s sake, I smoked a doobie and jacked off in a public restroom while looking at amateur photos sent in by Razzle readers.
PaulRaymond.xxx may not be immediately appealing to fans of modern porno movies, but old-schoolers will appreciate the nostalgia and the boners that come along with it. I’d say the format here is going to be the biggest draw, especially among masturbators old enough to remember the physical versions. You can find naked girls all over the internet, but these ones are packaged like they were decades ago, in photo layouts on double-page spreads with bright backgrounds, plus pervy little articles sprinkled throughout. If nothing else, I recommend cashing in on those freebies. If you need more, they’ve got it, and it’s cheap.
